AEK Athens v Aris Thessaloniki
Verdict: In the 3rd round of the Super League playoffs, AEK sit bottom of the table with 2pts while Aris are on 3pts respectively. It is really a do or die situation for both teams as they chase joint playoff leaders, PAOK and Olympiakos who sit on 7pts. In their last outing, AEK were strangely denied a perfectly good goal in their 2-1 loss at Olympiakos. Despite the defeat, it was an encouraging performance by AEK in a second half that they dominated for long periods.
In contrast, Aris were very dissapointing in their 2-0 defeat at PAOK. Aris are now on a run of 4 defeats in their last 5 outings and more alarmingly, 10 straight matches without a win on their travels.
AEK were one of the best performing home teams during the regular season (11-2-2) so they naturally go into this game as favourites. In addition, top scorer Ismael Blanco is set to return from injury which gives me further confidence that they can overcome a home sick Aris side.
